My Favorite Grass This Fall
Little Red Fox Wins for Color and Habit
After walking through the mayhem that was our ornamental grass growing area following a (likely) unprecedented 3-day long Nor'easter this past weekend, something jumped out at me. The usual suspects were blown down, flattened, some full on crushed by the driving rain we experienced here in Southeastern CT. Some were unfazed like most of our Panicum. The standout however was one of our assortment of Little Bluestem cultivars - 'Little Red Fox'. With the exception of a few blow-overs, the crop was flawless, and the color has just exploded. They're easily the best looking for fall interest from our collection, and due to the perfect presentation after a crazy weather event, they're now my favorite fall-grass, period!
